The smell of woodsmoke, the drift of incense a procession of monks in black-and-gold robes, one of them giggling in a voice yet unbroken a touch of autumn in the air, a sense of gathering rain. All longing was put to sleep in the stillness, and all was distilled into a clean simplicity. And in an age of constant movement, nothing is more urgent than sitting still. In an age of distraction, nothing can feel more luxurious than paying attention.

Hmm, any from "sponsors"? At least ALSA would have to go back to the office again! Has anybody seen a picture of ALSA employees at its palacial new office? To many patients, "One ALS" looks like a clique of luxury 6 figure ZOOM jobs with banker's hours (36), and in some cases with "executive assistants". to view ALSA's COI (Conflict of Interest) forms to know if execs own stock (if any) in pharma companies. Patients are already forced to visit D.C. With $10.6M in annual payroll (and just $5M in grants), ALSA appears (to me) to be crumbling.

pALS' walk money will be added to ONE BIG kitty, so expect NO transparency. Sadly, "LOCAL" ALS just lost its voice (and soul). Did pALS vote for this new dictatorship, and do they know they will essentially now fundraise for ALL chapters? This scheme has been a dream of ALS execs- TOTAL CONTROL. Many local form 990's have disappeared already, but soon there will be NO local 990's, and NO way to know how much your chapter raised (and should get) exactly their goal. How could seizing all funds raised by LOCAL walks, gifts, etc., and sending it up to Nationals to decide how much is sent back down to each chapter ever be a "good idea"? Then came the predictable "One ALS, One team, One world." BS propaganda.
